Puppy training
Training begins as soon as you bring your puppy home, we’re here to help!
Teaching your puppy how to learn and problem-solve early on, rather than just what to learn, will make their training significantly easier and faster. Doing this, in the long run, makes for a confident, well-behaved adult dog!
Proper socialization is another crucial part of achieving a well-rounded adult dog. It goes beyond playing with other puppies; it means teaching them to thrive in our world. Allowing your puppy to positively experience new environments in a safe and secure way will set both you and your puppy up for long-term success.

We couldn’t ask for a better trainer
“Kathryn is the absolute best! Chloe wouldn’t be the dog she is today if it was not for Kathryn!! She is very professional, and my two dogs love her! She has been working with our puppy, who is very nervous around other dogs and stuff outside, and she is helping a lot! Chloe learned so much from her! She was so excited to see her every time. We couldn’t ask for a better trainer.”

House Breaking
This is the most popular reason people contact trainers for help with new puppies. Teaching your new puppy a routine is the quickest way to get them housebroken. Monitoring their food and water intake and keeping a close eye on your puppy are the key components to successful potty training.
Crate Training
Often the most difficult part of having a new puppy is teaching them to be quiet in the crate. It is abnormal for puppies and dogs to be separated from their pack, so it is imperative that you start this process early and in a positive way to create a great association with being left alone in the crate.
Leash Walking
It is important to remember that your puppy may have never experienced wearing a collar and leash before. Teaching them how to wear a collar and leash comfortably is only step one to successful leash walking.
Nipping, Mouthing & Chewing
Puppies explore the world through their mouths, so nipping and mouthing are common. Providing safe chews and toys redirects this behavior away from you. Some breeds, like cattle dogs bred for herding, may nip ankles due to their genetic instincts. Retrievers may pick up and chew items if not given proper outlets for their natural behaviors. It is in a puppy's DNA to use their mouths to fulfill a purpose.
Just because these are normal puppy behaviors does not make them acceptable or appropriate. Teaching your puppy the proper outlet for these genetic desires is largely impacted by how you interact with your puppy while they are experimenting with behavior.
Obedience
When working with young puppies, our primary focus is not on obedience training. Instead, we concentrate on teaching them how to learn effectively, laying the groundwork for successful obedience training in the future.
Doing too much too soon with a puppy puts them at higher risk for burnout as they mature. Spending a few minutes each day teaching your puppy how to follow a lure or how to manipulate an object to get the reward is the best way to set your puppy up for future learning, and therefore a more obedient adult dog.
